Creating the SSL Certificate

sudo a2enmod ssl
sudo service apache2 restart

Generate a Self-signed Certificate

sudo openssl genrsa -out ca.key 2048
sudo openssl req -nodes -new -key ca.key -out ca.csr

Lastly, generate a self-signed certificate (ca.crt) of X509 type valid for 365 keys.

                DocumentRoot /var/www/html
                ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log
                CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined
                SSLEngine on
                SSLCertificateFile /etc/apache2/ssl/ca.crt
